Pack of 30 Bright White LEDs
LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) have replaced light bulbs in many Model Railroading applications.  They are about the size of the typical grain-of-wheat light bulb but they do not heat up and draw very little current.  The LED's that we are offering are bright white.
These LED's require 3.0 VDC to operate.  Check the specs on your DCC decoder to determine what the output voltage is for the headlight.
In order to have the LED illuminate, the short lead must be connected to the (-) negative power source and the long lead must be connected to the (+) positive power source.  A 100 ohm 1/8 watt resistor (NOT included) may be used in series with one lead (either one) if connected directly to track power.

This shows the 3mm LED compared to a dime in the foreground.  the actual LED is clear.
In order to illuminate the LED for the photos we powered them by using a 2032 watch battery.  We strongly recommend purchasing one or two of these inexpensive batteries to easily and
SAFELY
test your LEDs prior to installation.  The negative lead (shorter lead) was touching the (-) top side of the battery and the positive lead (longer lead) was touching the (+) bottom side of the battery.
We have tested EACH LED included in this auction using a 2032 battery.
Each LED includes a built in lens that will focus the light forward.  Notice that the LED below on the right appears to be dimmer than the left one.  Actually, both are the same intensity but the beam on the left is focused straight ahead into the camera.  The LED on the right is aimed a little to the right so it APPEARS less intense than the left LED.
This picture shows both LED's in the dark with the room light turned off.  The left LED is pointed directly into the camera, the right LED is pointing to the right and APPEARS to be dimmer.  Both are actually the same intensity but focused in different directions.
