I do not clean or polish my
vintage items so they retain their vintage patina, but all of them
polish up wonderfully! Some people like them very shiny and others
like them with a nice warm patina.
    Although mustard seeds have been
    recorded in Britain since Roman
    times, the classic silver mustard
pot, in the form of a squat lidded
    tankard, was not introduced until
    around 1720 when the commercial
manufacture of mustard as a paste
    began. (Previously mustard was used
in a dried, powder form). For the
next 40 years, the powdered form
remained the most popular and as
such George I & George II antique
    silver mustard pots are rare.
    However, from about 1760, the
    beginning
of George III's reign, mustard as
paste became the most popular form
and sterling silver mustard pots have
    become essential dining table attire
    from then to present
    day.
