Description
This is something that is not seen everyday. It looks a little like a giant letter opener!
Although it is not marked, it is from the Brunswick- Balke -Collender Company in the late 1800's.
It is called a 'strip puller'. When it came time to change the felt from a Billiard table, this tool was used to remove the wood 'feather ' strips that held the felt into the table cushions on the rails. It is actually a 12 inch blade with an extra 3 inches of solid wood handle.
If any of the buyers/watchers have a copy of Mark Stellinga's' Pool and Billiard Collectible's' book, look on page 174. This piece is in that photo.
You will notice a small smudge near the handle. There is also a larger smudge on the other side. They are just age marks.
This is a RARE early billiard table tool. It is in good usable condition.
