Description

From an estate --- this person was collector of scores of different pins from the 1910's - 1950's.
Vintage GRAND UNION FOOD SUPERMARKET 6-Year and 3-Year Safety Award Lapel Pins, the 6-Year Pin is marked A-1/20-10K.
Here are some vintage unique pins, could be as old as 1930's but probably more like 1950's, the 6 years in in nice shape, the 3 years has wear on the surface face, a green and gold metal with pin back. They are  5/8" tall and 1/2" wide.
Grand Union Supermarkets
, later known as
Grand Union Family Markets
and often referred to simply as
Grand Union in the 1930's,
was an American chain of grocery stores that did business primarily in the northeastern United States. It operated stores in other areas of the country including the midwestern and southeastern states, and internationally in the Caribbean and Canada. The company was founded and headquartered in Scranton PA and moved to Brooklyn NY  New York in the early 20th century. Grand Union moved again to Elmwood Park, NJ and finally to Wayne, NJ before the company was forced into Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2001 and sold to C&S Wholesale Grocers
After C&S bought Grand Union it down-scaled most of its operations, keeping only a number of stores in upstate New York and New England open. The chain was sold to Tops Friendly Markets in 2012; in 2013 Tops rebranded the remaining Grand Union stores with the Tops logo and the
Grand Union
name was discontinued.
Watch my store for many more unique and rare pins, what a great piece of history.
